A Fine George II Walnut Card Table

£2,285

A fine George II envelope card table in walnut.

A fine George II envelope card table in walnut, the plain top with shaped edge and rounded corners, opening on a concertina back leg and revealing a bottle green leather surface with gilt tooled edge, complete with a circular candlestand at each corner, and with an oval counter scoop next to each, and with a concealed counter drawer within, over a plain shaped frieze and on slender tapering cabriole supports with card cut knees and on pad feet. English, circa 1740.

Condition: Overall very good, the table is solid and robust and stands very well, the leather, which is probably the original, is split along the fold (and has been for some time) and is scuffed and has a paler stain to one corner, the concertina action works well and the concealed drawer runs well, keeping the concertina straight. Overall the table has a really wonderful appearance, with beautiful proportions, a lovely warm patina and colour.
