A very fine late 19th century hour striking bracket clock of small proportions in the 18th century style.


A very fine late 19th century hour striking bracket clock of small proportions in the 18th century style, the arch top walnut case surmounted by a pagoda top with gilt bronze floral finial, the front door with quarter mounted gilt bronze caryatids opening to the 5” dial with silvered chapter ring with Roman numerals and outer minute track with five minute markers, blued steel hands, and with strike/silent selector above and gilt bronze spandrels, to each side an arched pierced gilt bronze panel, the back door opening to the eight day two train fusée movement with a pendulum with lenticular bob, keep screw and the coiled gong, the whole on a plinth base with gilt bronze acanthus mounts and standing on gilt bronze bracket feet. English circa 1880. Door keys and winding key supplied.

Condition: This clock is in excellent condition, with well figured walnut veneers to the oak carcass, finely cast bronze mounts with the original gilding, and it has been fully serviced and overhauled and is in full working condition.
