A French mid 19th century mantel clock in a red lacquer Chinoiserie case, the case with a bell shaped top surmounted by a basket of fruit in gilt bronze over an hourglass body with an arched coving over gilt bronze bezel with a sunburst surround to the 4” white enamel dial with Arabic numerals and an outer minute track with numeric five minute markers and Brocot adjustment to the top, pierced gilt metal hands and marked ‘Viger A PARIS’, the case decorated to the front and sides with floral motifs and with Chinese figures in a garden with pagodas and trees on a red ground with gilt highlights, raised on shaped gilt brass feet, and having an eight day movement with an outside countwheel striking the hours and half hours on a bell, the movement stamped PLANCHON A PARIS and bearing the stamp of Vincenti for the Médaille d’Argent movement of 1855. French circa 1860.

Condition: Overall very good, the dial has minor losses of enamel around the winding arbours, otherwise the clock is in very good condition with no losses to the decoration, and the whole has a pleasing appearance and colour. The clock has been fully serviced and overhauled and is in full working order, and comes supplied with a key.
