A George III Mahogany Lamp Table

This item has been sold.

A fine George III mahogany lamp or work table, the hinged rectangular top with finely moulded edge opening to a fitted interior over a dummy drawer front, with a drawer below with similar interior, each with boxwood strung edges and brass key escutcheons and with the original ring handles, on square tapering supports with boxwood and ebony stringing to the tops. English, circa 1790.

Condition: Overall very good, the table is solid and robust with no undue wobbling, and the drawer runs smoothly. There are some historic marks on the top, however they have been there for some time, and removing them would involve removing the surface altogether. As a result, the table has a delightful and completely original colour and patina, and has a lovely appearance which is unique to Georgian furniture.
