A George III Mahogany Tripod Supper Table

A fine George III mahogany supper table.

A fine George III mahogany supper table, the plain tilting circular top cut from one piece of timber on a four pillar birdcage with rotating action and its original gilt brass catch over a turned baluster shaft raised on three cabriole supports on pad feet. English, circa 1770.

Condition: Excellent, the table is in very good condition with no breaks or repairs, the top turns smoothly and the whole piece is stable and sturdy. The table is beautifully proportioned and has an absolutely wonderful colour and grain; the turning on the shaft is beautifully precise and the whole thing radiates the lovely patina of furniture of the period.
