A fine George IV mantel clock by Benjamin Vulliamy, in a gilt bronze case in the French style, the 3” gilt Roman dial with outer minute track, black steel moon hands and a centre decorated with stiff leaves and scrolls, within a richly cast frame and set in a square block upon which is a Grecian style vase of flowers, and a neoclassical female figure dressed in a flowing gown leaning against it, and with a beribboned staff on the other side, the whole resting upon a rectangular plinth decorated with sprays of cast and applied flowers, stylised leaves, and scrolls, with a line of anthemions below, and raised on richly cast feet decorated with swags, scrolls and leaves, and with an eight day fusee timepiece movement by Benjamin Vulliamy, signed on the dial and the movement backplate and numbered 1846, English, circa 1830. Supplied with its pendulum and a winding key.
Condition: Excellent, the clock is in very good condition with no damage or repairs, the case is in excellent condition with no gilding loss, the movement has been fully serviced and overhauled and is in good working order, and overall the clock has an imposing appearance, wonderful patina and refined, well cast features.
