A late 19th century oil painting on canvas of a forty gun, three masted ship at anchor with sails unfurled in a calm harbour, and with other smaller vessels adjacent, in a giltwood frame, apparently unsigned. English, circa 1880.
Canvas size: 30 x 41 cm (12” x 16”). Marked on the back of the canvas ‘M. D. Sturtevant’.
Condition: Overall very good, the painting is in extremely good condition with no damage whatsoever, the frame has one or two small areas of loss to the gilding, however these are not significant. The painting appears fresh and clean.
