£1,375

A fine late Victorian steel, brass and cast iron fire grate in the Adam style.

A fine late Victorian steel, brass and cast iron fire grate in the Adam style, the cast iron back with arched top over curved sides and a removable grille below, with polished steel fronts and with turned and engraved brass finials and curved rails, over a serpentine brace with a pierced decorative brass panel with a phoenix and scrolling leaves, on heavy scrolled brass supports with decorative engraving, topped with larger brass finials. English, circa 1890.

Condition: Overall very good, the grate is in very good condition with no cracks or damage, there are some minor rust marks to the steel but these can be polished out, the grille fits well and the piece stands well with no loose parts or wobbling. Overall it has a lovely appearance and a good ‘antique’ look.
