A fine late Victorian elbow chair in the style of Thomas Chippendale.


A fine late Victorian elbow chair in the style of Thomas Chippendale, the toprail richly carved with a husk shell and with scrolls and foliate motifs, over a finely pierced splat with further scrolls and acanthus leaves and with a central ‘Gothick’ aperture, with outswept elbows with scrolling terminals and carved supports, to a generous stuffover seat upholstered in pink damask and raised on cabriole legs with carved knees and on ball and claw feet. Stamped to the inside top of the back legs ‘TROLLOPE & SONS’, English circa 1880.

Condition: Excellent, the chair is in very good condition with no apparent damage or repairs, the carving is crisp and beautifully done, the upholstery, while not new, is clean and in good condition, and the chair is comfortable to sit in. Overall it has a lovely colour and patina.
