A large late Victorian country house drop dial clock in a pale mahogany case.


A large late Victorian country house drop dial clock in a pale mahogany case, the moulded surround with a heavy cast brass bezel with bevelled plate over an off-white painted 18” dial with Roman numerals in black and an outer minute track with five minute markers, inscribed to the centre of the dial DONNE & SON LONDON and with black spade hands, with a drop below with flame veneer and shaped cockbeaded border and locked trapdoor below and stabilising fittings to the corners, with an eight day fusee movement with a maintaining spring and a pendulum with a wooden rod and cylindrical bob, supplied with a winding key and lock key. English, circa 1880.

Condition: Overall very good, the case is in very good condition, the dial has had some paint loss around 6 and 9, this has been treated and is now stable, the movement has been fully serviced and overhauled and is in good working condition, overall the clock has a lovely appearance and the timber a pleasing warm colour.

Note: This clock is very heavy and will require a big nail to support it. There are also plates at the corners to stabilise it once in place.
