A good late Victorian bracket clock in the 18th century style.


A good late Victorian bracket clock in the 18th century style, the arched case with gilt brass finials, caryatids to the door and pierced arched sound plates to the sides and on gilt brass scrolling feet, with a door opening to the 5” dial with a silvered chapter ring with Roman numerals and outer minute track around a matted centre, with decorative blued steel hands and gilt brass spandrels to the corners, and with a break-arch subsidiary regulator dial with silvered ring and pointer, to an eight day two train quarter striking ting-tang movement by Winterhalder & Hoffmeier. English with a German movement, circa 1890. Supplied with its pendulum, door key and a winding key.

Condition: Excellent, the clock is in very good condition with very little loss to the ebonising, the gilt brass mounts are all in very good condition, the dial is clean and presents well, the movement has been fully serviced and overhauled, and is in excellent working condition. Overall the clock has a great appearance of a bracket clock in the finest English tradition.
