A fine Louis Philippe mantel clock in a gilt bronze case.


A fine Louis Philippe mantel clock in a gilt bronze case, the Louis XV style case cast in a richly expressive Rococo manner, with finely textured scrolls and foliate motifs and with pierced and recessed silk lined sound panels, with a white enamel 3” dial with Roman numerals and outer minute track with five minute markers, blued steel spade hands and inscribed below the centre ‘J. A. Page A Paris’ and with an eight day two train silk suspension movement with an outside countwheel striking the hours and half hours on a bell, the backplate with a Vincenti mark, and further stamped J A PAGE A PARIS. French, circa 1840. Supplied with a winding key.

Condition: Overall very good, the clock is in very good condition with no damage to the case and no evidence of polishing, there is a very fine hairline crack between the winding holes and IX, the movement has been fully serviced and overhauled and is in excellent working order, and the bell sounds bright and clear.
