A Louis Philippe mantel clock in a rosewood case.


A Louis Philippe mantel clock in a rosewood case, with a richly cast gilt bronze carrying handle over a rectangular viewing glass and with inlay around the caddy top within a double band of stringing, with a bone knob to draw up the covering glass over the 3” (7.5 cm) silvered dial with Roman numerals in black with an outer minute track and blued steel Breguet hands and a Brocot adjustment above, within a frame of boxwood inlaid rosewood, sides inlaid with foliate designs and on a plinth base inlaid at the front. The rear with a lift-off panel to the eight day movement with outer count wheel striking the hours and half hours on a bell, marked to the backplate Hy Marc. French, circa 1840.

Condition: Overall very good, the case is in very good condition with pleasing patination and colour, the inlays are all present and nicely defined. The movement has been fully serviced and overhauled, and is in full working order. The clock comes with its pendulum and is supplied with a key.
