A Louis XVI period trumeau, the two part mirror and painting in a plain wooden frame painted green-grey, with an oil painting on canvas of an Italianate landscape featuring a cottage with a figure by the door overlooking a river, with trees, rocks and a bridge in the distance, within an integral gilt frame of a plain raised moulding with a beaded edge, over a near-square mirror in a similar integral gilt frame. French, almost certainly Provence, circa 1780.
Condition: Overall very good, the trumeau is in very good condition, the paint has probably been refreshed at some point but by no means recently (probably 19th century), the painting is original and in very good condition; the mirror is the original mercury plate and is in good condition with some marks and foxing consistent with age, the backboards are the originals, and overall the piece has a really delightful appearance with lovely proportions and charm of French Provencal antiques.
