A late 20th century carved macassar ebony equine sculpture, the rearing stallion with his head looking to the right, standing on a roughly shaped block suggesting a rock, with his tail attached to it providing additional support, and with his front hooves tucked beneath him, his head turned to the right and mane flying, French, made from Indonesian ebony, late 20th century.
Condition: Excellent, the piece is in very good condition with no damage to it, there is a little fading to one side but not especially significant, the piece is solid and robust with no breaks, and overall it is full of drama and a wonderfully drawn and executed piece of sculpture, evoking strength and motion.
