A mid 19th century French carriage clock of small proportions.


A mid 19th century French carriage clock of small proportions, in a gilt brass Gorge case with bevelled glass plates and with overhead handle over the platform with an English lever escapement, the white enamel dial with Roman numerals in black with outer minute track, blued steel club hands and signed SCHERER PARIS under 6 o’clock, with an eight day twin train movement striking the hours and half hours on a bell and with a repeater function, signed Scherer on the backplate. French, circa 1865.

Condition: Overall very good, the case is in very good condition with only minor losses to the gilding, the dial has a small hairline in the upper right hand corner, the glass plates are all in good condition; the movement has been fully serviced and overhauled and the repeater mechanism works as it should. The bell has a clear, bright sound.
