£1,950

An unusual pair of early 19th century pine blanket boxes or sailors trunks.

An unusual pair of early 19th century pine blanket boxes or sailors trunks, the hinged lids with steel strap hinges with overhanging plain mouldings over plain sides with dovetail corners and with iron carrying handles and brass key escutcheons on plinth bases. English, probably South or Southwest England, circa 1820.
Condition: Overall very good, the lids have historic signs of wear and travel use, the handles are all solid and the trunks themselves are robust. Overall they have a nice patina and very good colour. It is very unusual to find a pair.
