A pair of George III period portraits of small proportions, each in oils on canvas of a lady and gentleman in quarter length ovals, he in a maroon frock coat and buff waistcoat with a white cravat, she with a lace bonnet and lawn shawl over a grey dress, both presented in period giltwood frames with matted gilt insets, English circa 1770. Sight 12” by 9½”.
Condition: Excellent, both paintings are in very good condition with no damage to either portrait or either frame, the portraits have been professionally and sensitively cleaned and relined and the frames re-joined, and overall the portraits display a finesse of touch with wonderful attention to detail, with lovely warm colours and a smart appearance.
