A Pair of Late 19th Century East Anglian Birch Kitchen Chairs

This item has been sold.

An unusual pair of late 19th century kitchen chairs in birch, each with a crested toprail over a central pierced splat and with slender turned spindles and uprights, to a solid carved seat over cabriole legs on pad feet to the front and turned back supports united by a turned stretcher. English, probably East Anglia, circa 1880.

Condition: Overall very good, both chairs are in very good condition and both are solid and robust, and remarkably comfortable to sit on. Both have evidence of historic woodworm to the seat, however this has been treated and is stable. The chairs have a lovely warm colour and feel to them.
