£1,950

A fine Regency dropleaf work table in rosewood.

A fine Regency dropleaf work table in rosewood, the rectangular top with banded edge and with brass and boxwood stringing, with a stylised floral motif to the centre of each side, over opposing fitted drawers with corresponding dummy front, each with original turned wooden handles, oxbone lock escutcheon and boxwood edge, over a sliding work basket lined with baize and with pleated rose silk covering, with end supports united by a stretcher and on splayed legs, all with brass stringing, raised on hairy paw feet with castors. English, circa 1820.

Condition: Excellent, the table is in very good condition, all the brass inlays are present and have been lightly cleaned where appropriate, the drawers both have a key and run smoothly, the castors roll well and overall the piece has a stylish appearance with wonderful colour and patina, with beautifully figured timber. This is a really lovely example of the use of rosewood in early 19th century English furniture.
