A late 20th century mantel clock timepiece by Charles Frodsham, the mahogany case with a flat top with moulded edge over straight sides and a break-arch glazed front with a moulded edge, on a plinth base raised on compressed brass feet, the partly gilded silver 3” dial with incorporated Roman chapter ring with half hour dividers and outer five minute markers and marked Charles Frodsham London to the centre, blued steel hands and with a rose, thistle, leek and shamrock to each corner, and with a St Edward’s Crown surrounded with baroque scrolling motifs, and with SILVER JUBILEE and 1977 in scrolled ribbons above and below, hallmarked London 1977 with the special Jubilee Mark, and with an eight day timepiece movement with eleven jewels and a platform escapement, English, 1977. Supplied with a winding key.
Condition: Excellent, the clock is in very good condition with no marks or damage to the case, the dial is in excellent condition, the movement has been fully serviced and overhauled and is in good working order. Overall this is a charming clock and is perfect for a small mantelpiece.
The Silver Jubilee was held in celebration of 25 years of Queen Elizabeth II’s reign in 1977.
