A mid 20th century Bakhtiari rug, the rug with a central cross-shaped medallion with geometric floral motifs and bordered with blue and madder edges, in a field extensively decorated with flowers and leaves on a red ground, with dark blue spandrels with shaped borders, and within a broad border with repeating stylised blooms in pinks, blues, cyans and ivory, and with a pair of guard stripes either side. Iran, circa 1960.
Condition: Excellent, the rug is in very good condition with no damage or repairs, the pile is in good condition with very little wear, the fringes are mostly there with some losses, the colours are vivid and bright with little to no fading, and overall the rug is a lovely example of the Baktiari type.
