An Early 19th Century Chinese Armorial Punch Bowl

£395

A fine example of Chinese export porcelain with armorials.

An early 19th century Chinese export porcelain punch bowl with enamelled Famille Rose decoration, the large hemispherical bowl with a gilded rim and a band of gilded fleur de lys on a black and gilt border around a central floral spray to the centre in pinks, yellows and greens, with a navy blue outlier, and with four small sprigs around the side, and with four similarly coloured sprays to the outside around a pair of armorial lion passant gardants, each holding an ear of corn and on gold and navy blue wreath, the whole raised on a collet foot, unmarked. Chinese export, circa 1830.

Condition: Overall very good, the bowl is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks to the body, there is minimal loss to the gilding on the rim consistent with age, the enamelled decoration is in excellent condition with no losses or damage, the bowl has a nice ring to it when (gently) flicked. Overall this is a wonderful decorative item, redolent of Chinese export armorial pieces of the era.
