An early 19th century oil painting on canvas of a ruin, probably Tintern Abbey, on the banks of the River Wye. The foreground with figures casting nets into the river, the Abbey in mid foreground, and with trees, a village and hills in the distance, under a partly cloudy sky, in a broad swept giltwood frame with beading and an outer border of stiff leaves. English circa 1800.
Canvas size: 46 x 59 cm (18” x 23”)
Condition: Overall very good, the painting has at some point been relined with very minor retouching, the frame has some small losses but is generally in good condition. The frame is probably a late 19th century replacement.
