An early 20th century mantel clock timepiece of small proportions.


An early 20th century mantel clock timepiece of small proportions in the 18th century taste, the rectangular domed top with brass carrying handle over a moulded cornice to a glazed door with a 3.25” dial with silvered chapter ring with Roman numerals in black with an outer minute track and inner track, matted gold centre with beetle and poker hands in blued steel and with gilt metal spandrels to the corners, painted sides and on a plinth base raised on gilt feet; and with an eight day movement by Astral of Coventry, all in a Chinoiserie design case with figures and landscapes with pagodas, trees and clouds, gilt highlights on a bronze coloured ground. English, circa 1930.

Condition: Excellent, both the clock and the case are in extremely good condition, with no losses to the decoration and only very minor losses to the gilding. The movement has been fully serviced and is in full working order.
