An early 20th century mahogany bowfront stick barometer.


An early 20th century mahogany bowfront stick barometer, the cavetto top over a bowed viewing glass to the engraved silvered scale with a remote action brass vernier marker with turned boxwood wheel, over a silvered alcohol thermometer with engraved scale in Fahrenheit and with observations under a bowed glass, to an ebonised cistern over a re-entrant base. Engraved Roselli London to the scale. English, circa 1900.

Condition: Excellent, the barometer is in superb condition and is in full working condition, retaining its mercury, and the case is in excellent condition. All glass panels are perfect. The boxwood turning wheel works well. Fitted with a mirror plate to the back at the top.

Provenance: A private collection of clocks and barometers, Bedfordshire.
