An Edwardian mantel clock in a mahogany case, the tall, arch shaped case with boxwood stringing and with an oval panel inlaid with an Adam style vase in satinwood, burr yew and oxbone, and with boxwood strung surround, the whole on a moulded plinth base, and with a gilt brass hinged bezel and convex bevelled glass over a 4” white enamel Roman dial with outer minute track and blued steel Breguet hands, to a French two train eight day movement striking on a coiled gong, the backplate stamped Japy Frères Médaille d’Honneur, French, in an English case, circa 1900. Supplied with a winding key and a pendulum.
Condition: Overall very good, the clock is in very good condition with no damage to the case, there is a small fissure near the top on the side which has been filled, the dial is in perfect condition with no chips or cracks to the enamel, the pendulum is a replacement, and the movement has been fully serviced and overhauled and is in good working condition. Overall the clock has a pleasing appearance with fine grained timbers and elegant proportions.
