An Elm Magazine Stand

£495

A mid 20th century magazine stand combined table in elm.

A mid 20th century magazine stand combined table in elm, the rectangular top with rounded corners over shaped end supports each pierced with a trefoil in the medieval style, and with tapering sides for storage. English circa 1960.
Condition: Excellent, the piece is solid and robust, with no loose joints. The timber has a wonderful grain and patina and interesting burr patterns.

This, and items such as this, were made using timber from the elm trees that succumbed to the sac fungus spread by the elm bark beetles and first identified in the Netherlands in 1921.
