An early 20th century oil painting on canvas of ‘Le Vieux-Port de Marseille’, with fishing boats and dinghies in the walled harbour and a figure holding a rod in the foreground, and with backdrop of buildings around the waterfront, and in the distance the hilltop basilica of Notre-Dame de la Garde, all under a sunlit sky, in a painted and dry scraped coving style frame. French, circa 1920.
Canvas size: 50 x 100 cm (20″ x 40″)

Condition: Overall very good, the painting is in good condition with no paint loss, the surface has some crackelure but this appears stable. The colours are fresh and vibrant, and the painting appears to be clean. The frame is in good condition. The paint has been applied using a mix of brush and palette knife resulting in heavy impasto in some areas, giving it a wonderful texture.
