A fine George IV tea caddy in amboyna.


A fine George IV tea caddy in amboyna, the rectangular case with hinged top, ebony stringing and lock escutcheon, opening to an interior with twin lift out lead lined mahogany canisters each with a removable satinwood cover with ebony edge and turned oxbone knob, a central satinwood and ebony section with a hole cut in and with a glass mixing bowl, the inside of the lid inlaid with reflecting rectangles and a circle in satinwood and rosewood. Supplied with a key. English, circa 1820.

Condition: Overall very good, the caddy is in very good condition with no damage or splits or scratches, the canisters fit snuggly and the lids fit them well, the right hand canister has some looseness to the lead lining, otherwise the cover fits properly, the lock works and overall the piece has a fantastic appearance and grain, with superb colour.
