An unusual late 19th century carved Indian elephant in macassar ebony and ox bone.


An unusual late 19th century carved Indian elephant in macassar ebony and ox bone, the realistically carved elephant depicted with ears back and moving forward with his trunk to one side. Probably Indian, circa 1880.

Condition: Overall very good, the piece is in good condition with no significant damage, however there are some natural cracks to the wood and both tusks and one of the toes are missing. However, overall the piece has a lovely appearance and great scale – and weight!
