An unusual late Victorian table in the Sheraton revival style.


An unusual late Victorian table in the Sheraton revival style, in pitch pine and painted, the oval top with moulded edge and painted with decorative ribbons intertwined with trailing foliage, around a central motif of twin palmettes in the neoclassical style and with surrounding scrolling leaves, over a painted frieze decorated with spandrels and foliate swags, on square tapering supports decorated with bows and harebells, raised on spade feet. Inscribed indistinctly to the underside in pencil, ‘Made by George *olley for Emily G**, *** 1st, 18*6’. English, circa 1880.

Condition: Overall very good, the table is in good condition and is solid and robust, the paint has had some minor losses but remains mostly in place, there are some small areas of scuffing, and it has been lightly cleaned.
